Video game console, 1983, CBS Electronics. The ColecoVision was launched by Coleco in North America in 1982 with a near-perfect conversion of Donkey Kong as the pack-in game; in Europe it was sold from 1983 by CBS Electronics as the CBS ColecoVision. Its Z80 processor and TMS9928 video chip, the same combination used in MSX computers, gave it arcade-quality graphics that no other console of the time could match. Expansion modules added a compatibility with Atari 2600 cartridges and a steering wheel, and the Adam turned it into a computer.
