Personal computer, 1991, Apple. The Macintosh Quadra 700 was, with the Quadra 900, the first Macintosh with the 68040 processor, introduced in October 1991 to compete with 486 PCs; it is also Apple's first mini-tower, essentially a IIci case turned on its side, with built-in Ethernet and 24 bit video.
