Handheld game console, 2004, Sony. The PlayStation Portable was Sony's first handheld, released in Japan in December 2004 and in Europe in September 2005, with a wide 4.3" screen, a MIPS processor, Wi-Fi and games on the UMD optical disc, which also carried films. It competed with the Nintendo DS and was revised several times (PSP-2000, 3000, Go, E1000), selling over 76 million units.
