Personal computer, 1977, Tandy. The TRS-80 Model I was launched by Tandy Radio Shack in August 1977, with the Apple II and the Commodore PET, as one of the first mass-market personal computers, and it was the best-selling of the three for the first years thanks to Radio Shack's thousands of shops. The system is a keyboard unit with a Z80 processor and Level I BASIC in ROM, a separate monitor and a cassette recorder, all sold together for US$599; the Expansion Interface added memory, floppy drives and a printer port.
