Video game console, 1978, Grandstand. The Grandstand Video Entertainment Computer is the British version of the Fairchild Channel F, the first console with games on ROM cartridges, sold in the United Kingdom by Adman Grandstand from 1978. The console is based on the Fairchild F8 processor and has two unusual controllers, a stick that moves, twists and pushes in eight directions; two games (hockey and tennis) are built in and the "Videocarts" add more. Its European versions were made in Germany by Saba and Nordmende as well.
