Texas Instruments Grillo Parlante

Educational toy, 1982, Texas Instruments. The Grillo Parlante is the Italian version of the Speak & Spell, the electronic spelling toy that TI introduced in 1978 as the first consumer product with a speech synthesizer chip. It pronounces a word with the synthetic voice and asks the child to spell it on the keyboard, showing the letters on a fluorescent display, and expansion modules add more words. The Italian version has an Italian vocabulary and the name of a cricket, recalling the talking cricket of Pinocchio.
