Home computer, 1985, Video Technology. The Laser 500 belongs to the second generation of VTech home computers, together with the Laser 350 and 700, which are unrelated to the Laser 200 series: they have a faster Z80, 64 KB of RAM, an 80-column text mode and 640 x 192 graphics, a real keyboard with a numeric keypad and a Microsoft BASIC with extended graphics commands. The 500 was sold in Europe and Australia as a low-cost alternative to the MSX and Amstrad machines.
