Home computer, 1983, Coleco. The Adam was Coleco's attempt to turn the ColecoVision into a complete home computer sold as a package: the machine, a daisy-wheel printer that also contains the power supply, a keyboard and a high-speed "Digital Data Pack" tape drive, with SmartWriter, SmartBASIC and a game, all for US$700. It was also sold as an expansion module for the console. Reliability problems, late delivery and the collapse of the home computer market killed it in a little over a year.
