Personal computer, 1985, Commodore-Amiga. The Amiga 1000 is the first Amiga, launched in New York in July 1985: a 68000 with the custom chips Agnus, Denise and Paula, 4096 colours, four-channel stereo sound and a pre-emptive multitasking operating system, years ahead of its competitors. The operating system was loaded from the Kickstart floppy into 256 KB of "writable control store" RAM.
