Replica computer, 2015, Oscar Vermeulen. The PiDP-8/I is a working replica of the front panel of the Digital PDP-8/I minicomputer of 1968, at two-thirds scale, driven by a Raspberry Pi running the SIMH emulator. The switches and lamps are wired to the Raspberry Pi and behave exactly like the original console, so that programs can be toggled in from the panel and the PDP-8 operating systems (OS/8, FOCAL, BASIC) can be run. The kit was designed by Oscar Vermeulen and has been built by hundreds of enthusiasts; the original PDP-8 was the first commercial minicomputer, of which over 50,000 were sold.
