RAM expansion, 1986, Commodore. The 1750 RAM Expansion Unit adds 512 KB to the Commodore 128 through the expansion port, using a dedicated DMA controller that moves data between the expansion and the main memory at high speed; it was rare and expensive during the DRAM shortage of the late 1980s.
