Video game console, 2000, Sony. The PlayStation 2 is the best-selling console of all time with over 155 million units, released in Japan in March 2000 and in Europe in November. It plays DVDs as well as games, is compatible with the original PlayStation, and its Emotion Engine processor and Graphics Synthesizer allowed games such as Grand Theft Auto III, Final Fantasy X and Gran Turismo 4; the slim version of 2004 halved the size. It stayed in production until 2013.
