Acoustic coupler, 1984, Olivetti. The MC10 is the acoustic coupler modem of the M10 portable, an alternative to the direct-connect modem built into some versions of the machine. The telephone handset is placed in the two rubber cups and data is exchanged at 300 bps with the TELCOM program in ROM, which allowed journalists and travelling users to send text from any hotel telephone.
