Voice synthesizer module, 1982, Mattel Electronics. The Intellivoice plugs into the cartridge slot of the Intellivision and adds a speech synthesizer chip; games written for it, such as Space Spartans and B-17 Bomber, plug into the module's own slot and use spoken phrases as part of the play. It was the first console add-on to produce speech, but only five games supported it and it was discontinued in 1983.
