LCD display, 1984, Apple. The Apple Flat Panel Display for the Apple IIc was one of the first LCD screens for a personal computer: a passive-matrix monochrome panel with 80 x 24 text and 560 x 192 graphics, plugging into the video expansion port of the IIc. Poor contrast and a squashed aspect ratio made it a commercial failure and it was soon withdrawn.
