Timex Sinclair 1000

Home computer, 1982, Timex Sinclair. The Timex Sinclair 1000 is the American version of the Sinclair ZX81, made by Timex under a joint venture with Sinclair Research and launched in July 1982 at US$99.95, "the first computer under $100". It differs from the ZX81 by an NTSC television output and 2 KB of RAM instead of 1 KB; the rest is the same tiny machine with a membrane keyboard, a Z80 and Sinclair BASIC in ROM. Over half a million were sold in the first months before the price war of 1983 made it obsolete.
