Home computer, 1985, Atari. The 65XE is the first machine of the XE series, introduced by the new Atari Corporation of Jack Tramiel after the takeover of the company in 1984. Electronically it is an 800XL with 64 KB of RAM in a new, lower case styled to match the Atari ST. Early units had no expansion bus at all; later European units gained the Enhanced Cartridge Interface (ECI), a reduced form of the earlier PBI.
