Video game console, 1994, Sega. The Saturn is Sega's 32-bit CD-ROM console, released in Japan in November 1994 and in Europe in July 1995. It has two Hitachi SH-2 processors and two video processors, an architecture that excelled at 2D arcade games and fighting games such as Virtua Fighter 2 but proved hard to program for 3D, and it lost the generation to the PlayStation outside Japan. About 9 million were sold.
