Video game console, 1993, Sega. The Mega Drive II is the redesigned, smaller version of the Mega Drive introduced in 1993, in a case with a rounded cartridge slot area, without the headphone jack and volume slider of the original and with stereo sound moved to the AV output. The hardware is otherwise the same and it plays the full library; it was sold alongside the Mega CD II and the 32X add-ons and stayed in production until 1997.
